I have always had a passion within the arts, and have studied art to a high level; ultimately completing my Masters in Fine Art at Birmingham City University. Within my Masters I was awarded the ‘Gertrude Aston Bowater Bequest’ for my commitment, creativity and ingenuity. My Fine Art degree was completed at Lancaster university and was both practical and theory led, integrating creative work, art history and professional practice. Furthermore, it also has gave me the opportunity to spend the second year of academic study at the University of North Carolina, USA. It was within the USA that my love of abstract art and its complexities was ignited.

Wanderlust and curiosity have been paramount in my growth and education as an artist. I have always been somewhat of a wayfarer, studying and working in an assortment of countries. This strong desire to travel inspired me to work for the largest privately owned art galleries in the world. This gallery sells work internationally, having galleries on cruise ships worldwide. As a gallery director, I was able to travel the world where I have been exposed to a rich variety of art, history and culture. This ultimately fueled my passion more.

‘What I experience becomes part of my vocabulary, which in turn creates a visual language that is rich in colour and painterly marks.’

When life takes you places, it forever changes your compass. I feel as an artist it is important for the viewer to understand where the artist is coming from. There is always a why, even when it isn’t obviously apparent. My work has been exhibited internationally. Having exhibited pieces in the USA, I then went on to exhibit in the south of France which in turn has brought me to become represented by galleries within the UK. With this success I was also invited to deliver workshops and artist demonstrations at art organisations.

I produce abstract paintings which have been inspired by travel. My desire is to invent something that challenges the eye in an unexpected way. I love the freedom that abstract allows and I enjoy the process where my work emerges organically from the process of painting. There becomes a notion of representation which is continually in motion. My abstract works are bold and colourful, often dominated by blues. For me, blue represents a spirit of exploration and adventure which I would like to reign in my mind and in the world, and I wish for others to feel this also.
